Word of Warning: When I first read about LeadPages.net I thought great, they are focused on selling a solution that solves a lot of people’s problems I should check out their affiliate program. When I did that I noticed that one of their big pluses was that they offered a 30% commission fee on each customer you sign up for the life of their account so naturally I clicked on the “Join The LeadPages Affiliate Program Now” but when I did it pushed me to open a paid account. I thought to myself” This must be a joke, right?” so I decided to email their partner team and the response I got back shocked me. I was told “You must be a Leadpages customer before you can be an affiliate.” and this left me dumbfounded. Becoming an affiliate and becoming a customer are really two different things that should be independent of each other. Adding to my frustration, is the fact that there is no trial account to try out leadpages (probably why they want to you as a customer first) and their standard account costs $25 per month billed annually ($300 per year) and that to be is a lot of money just to become an affiliate.
Conclusion: While LeadPages has a lot of pluses in my book when reviewing their affiliate marketing program, especially one that pays recurring commissions its the price tag of ownership that makes this risky for the average affiliate. $37 a month, at a minimum, to be an affiliate is probably more than most want to pay to join an affiliate program when most affiliate programs out there today don’t charge you to in the first place.
